Cinnamon Apple French Toast w/ Apple Spice Syrup
French Toast
- Ciabatta bread or any rustic loaf
- 1 1/2 Cup plant based milk
- 3 TBS ground flax seed
- 1 TBS maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- sprinkle salt
- sprinkle nutmeg
Cinnamon Apple
- 1 medium apple diced
- 1 TBS coconut oil
- 1 TBS brown sugar
- 1 - 2 TBS water
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp agave nectar
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
Optional:
- sprinkle allspice
- maple syrup
French Toast
1. Mix milk and flax seeds and let rest for 10min.
2. Dredge slices on both sides allowing excess to drip off.
3. Cook slices on medium heat on both sides until browned.
Cinnamon Apples
- Sauté apples with coconut oil in a small pot on medium heat.
- When apples begin to brown add all ingredients and carmalize. Stir frequently to prevent burning.
- Once the apple spice mix begins to bubble turn the heat off and continue to stir. As the sauce cools it will thicken.
- Serve over French toast.
For Mapple Apple Syrup:
- Set aside about 1/4 Cup of the syrup made from the apple spice mix and stir it into your maple syrup.
